JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

An Accounting Technician matches, codes, and batches invoices into an ERP system, weekly and monthly reconciliations, amongst other duties as defined below under the direction of the Accounting Manager, Senior Financial Accountant and Controller.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Match, code, and batch invoices for Gateman-Milloy Inc. and other entities
• Maintenance department job, task set up, all invoicing and reconciliation with ERP system
• Daily and monthly bank and GL accounts reconciliation
• Analyze and record accounting treatments relating to asset disposals
• Maintain intercompany debt alignments and resolve discrepancies
• Assist in Gateman-Milloy Inc. year end working paper preparation
• Prepare year end working paper files for numbered companies
• Prepare quarterly and monthly HST files for numbered companies and partnerships
• Filing as required
• Accounts Receivable duties as required
• Process special term vendor invoices/credits
• Projects as required by senior staff
• Reception duties as required
 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internally, relate directly with Accounting Manager, Controller, Senior Accountant, VP, and President. Relate indirectly to Project Managers, Division Managers, Accounting staff, General Manager, and Site Supervisors. A direct report is to the Controller. Externally, relate to vendors regarding credits and other paperwork required to complete accounting processes.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to read, understand, and speak English at a grade 12 level
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel are required
• Ability to enter data and submit queries on database ERP system
• Ability to work independently and work as a team member
• Relationship management skills in order to comfortably and effectively interact with vendors and all levels of internal staff are required
• Communication skills (facilitation, listening, verbal, written, presentation, negotiation)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
• Knowledge of accounting principles
• Responsible, reliable, and ability to keep confidential information

EMPLOYMENT CREDENTIALS:

• College diploma in accounting, or relevant years of experience is preferred
• Construction background an asset
• Accounting skills are required
