This exciting project in Waterloo’s downtown core involved many transformational activities: the removal of existing paved parking and associated site demolition at Waterloo Town Square Shopping Centre, the reconstruction of site services and the re-development of the King St. frontage street-scape and repaving of southbound lanes of traffic. The parking lots were replaced with a refrigerated ice rink pad, surrounded by decorative architectural concrete retaining walls and seat walls founded on helical piers. An additional challenge of this project involved the management, sorting and disposal of underlying contaminated soils.
