Hagersville Library and Active Living Centre

Hagersville, ON

The Hagersville Library and Active Living Centre (ALC) is a new 1,800 m² (18,000 sq. ft.), single-storey community facility located at 11 Athens Street in Hagersville, Ontario, within Grant Kett Park—a prominent downtown green space that also contains the arena, ball diamonds, and a natural amphitheatre used for community events. The project involved the construction of a co-located public library and multi-purpose recreation and community hub that integrates library services with a heritage exhibit component, community hall, and flexible programming areas. The facility was designed to support a holistic approach to community wellness by providing spaces that foster physical activity as well as social, cultural, and educational engagement. Key program elements include arts and cultural exhibit areas, flexible programming and meeting rooms, activity spaces serving youth, children, and seniors, and a commercial kitchen to support events and community programming. The building also includes an attached outdoor fieldhouse pavilion with washroom facilities that serve both the centre and users of the surrounding park amenities.
