SENECA COLLEGE

North York, On

Completed in 2017, this project involved the removal of an existing natural turf field and the construction of a new artificial turf field and a temporary air supported dome structure (315′ x 250′) housing a 7,300 m2 artificial turf field that can be converted into 3 mini fields. When the dome is removed in the spring, the full size artificial turf field envelope includes both the outfield for the softball field and the full size soccer field. When the dome is removed, custom artificial turf jackets are placed on top of the concrete foundation, providing a seamless transition to a 10,500 M2 artificial turf field. Associated works included the site grading, construction of a grade beam foundation for the dome, site servicing, (3) underground storm water Infiltration Galleries, artificial turf field including a sub-drainage network, Canopy structure, asphalt & concrete paving, concrete curbing, fencing and sodding. Underground concrete vaults were constructed for air handling equipment. This project started in March 2017 under a tight deadline where we had to complete and turnover the artificial turf field for the beginning of the College’s athletics season, Mid-September. The air supported dome was installed in November and was operational by the end of December, 2017. The project was completed by December, located at Seneca College, Newnham Campus, 1750 Finch Ave. East, Toronto.
