This revitalized facility is more than just an ice rink—it’s a modern, multi-purpose hub designed to serve both athletes and the wider community. At its heart is a full-sized 185′ x 85′ ice rink, surrounded by seating for 600 spectators and standing room for an additional 200. The facility features eight change rooms of varying sizes, a first aid room, concession area, public washrooms, multiple storage rooms, a fully equipped community hall with kitchen, and a small office and boardroom. A major component of the project involved replacing the existing refrigeration system, rink slab, and all associated rink furnishings, including new dasher boards and safety glass. Significant upgrades were made to improve accessibility and inclusivity. The building was modified to meet AODA standards, with the addition of two fully accessible change rooms, barrier-free washrooms, entrances, and doors. Change room layouts were reconfigured to provide larger spaces, including a gender-neutral room and a dedicated referee’s room. To enhance the visitor experience, the viewing area was expanded to include a new customer service counter, an accessible viewing platform with additional rink windows, and more communal space for players and families to gather. Renovations also included extensive upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems, as well as new flooring and ceiling finishes throughout. As one of two designated emergency shelter locations for the Township, the Centre is equipped with backup power—its community hall and change rooms are wired to operate on a natural gas generator, ensuring resilience and readiness in times of need
